Parents of troubled kids aren’t the problem, they are the solution. - James Lehman

I work with children, adolescents and their families on a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and oppositional behavior (this include being disrespectful, running away, being aggressive, engaging in high risk behaviors, and abusing drugs).

Because the family is an important resource for the child, I use an approach called Strategic Family Therapy that is a systemic framework where the whole family is involved in the treatment as a system. This does not mean that everybody has to be in session every week. There will be individual sessions with the child, sessions with the caregivers, and combined sessions. This has proven to be far more effective in restoring the well being of the family and developing closer relationships between family members than having individual therapy with the child.
